Incontinence is the term given to the accidental passing of urine. although it is embarrassing, its a truly common ailment that affects an estimated 3 million people in britain

Whatever gender or age, anyone can experience incontinence, even though its more common in people that are older. The problem affects many more ladies than blokes, and it affects one in five ladies who are aged over 40 years old.

Urinary incontinence occurs when the usual process of passing urine is interrupted. this can occur for many different reasons, which depends on the type of incontinence.

Sometimes incontinence in women can be due to weak pelvic floor muscles. the weakness in these muscles can make urine leak out of the bladder, & they can be weakened by pregnancy, age, obesity, the menopause & a number of reasons.

Incontinence can show itself in a variety of different ways. symptons vary from urine leakage during coughing, sneezing, laughing, or lifting, to little amounts of urine dribbling or leaking from the body often and unexpectedly.

If you have got any of these symptoms, go and visit your doctor for diagnosis and advice. do not be nervous about the embarrassing nature of your problem - the doctor will regularly see similar cases.

As we have already discussed, there's a variety of types of incontinence. These include:

Stress incontinence, which is the most widespread type of incontinence and one that is common in females that have had children. Stress incontinence is when urine leaks during sneezing, laughing and other activities that put pressure on the bladder.

Urge incontinence, which is when you understand that you want to urinate although you can not hold it in long enough to make it to the washroom in time. for this reason, urine can leak the minute you want to urinate.

Reflex incontinence is another range of the condition and it usually occurs due to a spinal or neurological trauma or disease where there is bit or no voluntary control or sensation of the bladder.

Some people might suffer from mixed type incontinence, which means, for example, stress incontinence sufferers might develop other strains of the condition.

If you've recognised some of the symptoms of incomtinence in this piece and believe you may be suffering from the ailment, do not worry. simply visit your doctor and speak to them about the range of treatments that are currently available.

A handful of of the incontinence treatments the doctor may mention are pelvic floor exercises, bladder training or medicine.

As well as these treatments, there's also a wide range of products available that'll help you to control your symptoms. These include disposable & washable knickers & pads to keep you dry throughout the night and day, as well as a wide range of bed protection toiletries and products that will feel wonderful.
