  • Relief from Stress with Floatation
    By: GREG MCKENZIE

You can get some very good stress relief with floatation for stress relief. When you look at water, there is a tendency to be calmed. The clear, shiny surface. The breeze pushes the cool waves around. The poetic sounds as it slowly flows over rocks. The calm splash of waves hitting the shore. Water is a simple necessity of life, and you could find that it might also be a wonderful approach to melting your stress away.

If you are looking for a place to float, consider going to a spa, many of which are now offering flotation as part of their services. You could even go so far as to buy your very own flotation tank. If you live close enough, you could dive into the ocean and float all your cares away. Why do we find flotation so calming? The reason is that floating is all you are required to do. Lay back and float while gazing at the blue sky and feel your troubles melt away. Floating makes you feel weightless, so you feel as if the weight of your problems can no longer drag you down.

Floating is as good for quieting the body as it is for the mind. If you can turn off your mind while you float, you will let go of the instinct for fight or flight. You will then feel your heart rate slow down and your muscles relax, which in turn helps your blood pressure. Getting your heart rate down is vital if you have cardiovascular problems. Floating can also improve your blood flow, easing the strain on your heart and the rest of your body. When your body participates in an activity such as flotation that makes it feel good, endorphins are released in your brain. These are the "feel-good" hormones of your body.

If the sea is overwhelming, there are plenty of other bodies of water you can use to float. While a clean lake can be cold, it is also a great place to float, but nothing can beat the ultimate sensation in floating -- the Dead Sea. Imagine going on a flotation vacation!

Greg McKenzie has written numerous Stress relief resource articles, including floatation and other activities.
