When hair gets dry it breaks. That is a fact. The more alcohol-based products you use and the more heat styling you do, the less moisture is retained in the hair. It becomes brittle and damaged and that leads to breakage. If you can’t do without those heat styling products and the only product that tames your hair has alcohol content, the best way to protect your hair with regular use of a conditioner.
What type of conditioner should I use?
Leave-in conditioners and a rinse-out conditioner should be part of your regular hair-care routine. Leave-in conditioners should be used every time you wash your hair as the last step when it is wet. There are some that are designed for daily use and if you find one that suits you, I recommend that you use it whether you have washed your hair or not. At least once a week, you should use a deep conditioner that is left on the hair for a few minutes then rinsed out. These types of conditioners are essential to replenishing moisture lost during the daily styling and use of harsh products.
Are their any special “ingredients” I should look for?
Panthenol. Point blank. Period. There is a reason that Pantene conditioners are considered some of the best in the world for all hair types. Conditioners containing pro-vitamins like Panthenol do wonders for your hair. Regular use stops shedding, minimizes split ends, and counteracts a lot of the damage we do to our own hair. It coats the hair to lock in moisture and lubricates hair follicles for an incredible shine.
