  • Dental Tourism Trends
    By: LAUREN KNIGHT

Only about 50 percent of Americans have any dental coverage, and typically that dental coverage only covers the basics, routine cleaning, fillings, occasional x-rays, and help with abscesses or other emergent problems. If you slowly lose your teeth because of early inattention, lack of brushing and flossing, recurrent infections, and slow decay, then no amount of insurance will help you.

Insurance policies generally don't cover dental implants, dentures, braces, or any other procedure that will either restore or improve your smile. And, make no mistake, these procedures can be incredibly costly. Many people can afford to buy a home and not a smile. This is where dental tourism can really make a difference. Dental tourism offers people an opportunity to obtain excellent dental care that they either cannot afford or cannot find locally.

One place that currently reigns supreme for dental tourism is Budapest, Hungary. The first reaction that most people would receive when they announce their plans to travel to Hungary for a smile workup is probably complete disbelief. But, seeing as Hungary is quickly becoming the dental capital of the world with its high quality dental care and low cost of living, it is likely to become more widely recognized and less of a surprise. The Brits have become more accustomed to the idea of dental tourism, after many years of not having any quality dental care to speak of. Americans are now finally catching on to the trend, too.

From consulting about your cosmetic dentistry improvements, to helping to arrange your accommodations, to suggesting the perfect leisure activities while you heal, Dental Care Europe will make sure you come home with a not only a perfect smile, but a reason to show it off.
