What is more important to you than good health? Good health makes it possible to enjoy all other important things in your life. The strength of digestive system is often responsible for our health. When the digestive system works efficiently, it is able to absorb the vitamins and mineral essential to optimal health. Most of us struggle to achieve complete digestion of the food we eat. There are several reasons why the body fails to digest food properly.
One of them is consumption of processed food. To get your digestion working properly you need to be more aware about your food choices. Eat very simple meals with variety of vegetables, get protein from lean meets or tofu, and avoid sugar and white bread.
Another reason for improper digestion is wrong food combining. Of many food combining rules that have been proposed two emerge as the most important:
1. Fruits are most beneficial when eaten 20 – 30 minutes before other food. So, eat fruits along or leave them along.
2. Do not combine dense proteins (nuts, avocado, meat, fish, dairy products) with dense starches (potatoes, beans, grains, peas, artichokes, corn).
Third reason is overeating. Too much of even most nutritious foods will reduce their benefits, because body will be unable to use the nutrients. The habit of frequent snacking results in an energy drain. To change this habit, try to eat small meals in intervals of 3 hours. You also need to chew properly, because digestion of carbohydrates begins in the mouth. Large food bits are harder to digest. This is how bloating happens.
