- Survivors Health Secrrt Tip: Apply some pressure to do more
- By: DR.ANCA MARTALOG,N.
Do you know to put positive pressure on your self to reach more of your health goals? Read on to discover how to use these important strategies. This is something different and fun, once you see the result, you'll want to do it all the time: I put pressure on myself for accountability!Since time flies, and I'm too busy to look at it all the time, I use a calendar I recommend you set your "timers" to 6 days per wk. I set mine to 5 days, Monday to Friday. Why? I like to have the week end off. I am greedy with my time off. However, when I started, I started at one week at a time. I suggest you do the same, until the new habit is formed.
On Sunday evening, make a schedule of your exercise routine for the week following. I recommend doing a little bit everyday . 20 min. cardio 40 min. resistance...
Being Fit Over 40 May Significantly Cut Stroke Risk Researchers at England's University of Cambridge report that people who are over 40 and in-shape may have a lesser chance of having a stroke. 1. The study used 13,600 adults(40-79y.o.) in the United Kingdom and began in 1993. Of the sample population, the top 25 percent of those in shape were half as likely to have a stroke as those in the bottom 25 percent. If you are over 40, but climb stairs, carry groceries, kneel, bend, and lift, you may be 50% less likely to suffer a stroke than those who don't do those things. ...which goes to show you how beneficial exercise is, even in small doses... And likely, exercise is also cumulative, which means that is you only have 10min. To do it in the morning, then another 10 at lunch, and another 10 in the evening, you can add it up to 30 min. these are 30 min of muscles and circulation benefits, not necessarily cardio-vascular, which requires at least 20 uninterrupted min's. Take a little bit of time and include exercise in your routine when it's convenient, so you won't have any excuse to skip it all the time. Fit it into your schedule and forget it; when the time comes just do it!
Regular exercise comes with a big list of benefits, especially for stroke survivors: preventively and entirely and as post-stroke treatment , at any age, especially for stroke survivors.
