- The Cold Hard Truth About Back Pain
- By: TED PERKINS
Back pain is an enormous epidemic, not only in the United States but throughout the whole world. Locally, it is a 44 billion dollar industry which is the leading cause of workmen’s' compensation. As a back pain chiropractic specialist in Vero Beach Florida, I have seen how back pain has caused enormous suffering for a lot people and their families.85% of the US population will experience back pain at some point in their lives. That means nine out of ten people experience back pain at some point in their lives, and four out of five adults experience back pain every year – causing 93 million workdays to be lost annually. Acute lower back pain is the leading cause of disability for people under 45 years of age. Back pain is often caused by different factors, and may originate from the nerves, joints, muscles, bones, or other parts of the spine. 5-10 percent of the back pain that people experience becomes chronic.
There are many ways to treat chronic back pain, but most people often resort to surgeries, often thinking that this is the fastest way to go. Surgeries in the U.S are approaching 500,000 per year. Aside from being invasive and very expensive, many of these surgeries are unsuccessful and the back pain returns or becomes worse.
Most surgeries are actually unnecessary, as technology has brought us many advances in the area of back pain and chiropractic care. Spinal decompression is a safe, non-surgical procedure that has become very popular with a very high success rate.
Preventative back care and wellness is of significant importance and should not be neglected. We must always take good care of our back. Back pain is common, but it is treatable and does not have to end up with you lying on the operating table.
