- By: SYLVIA FONTRELLINI
Incontinence is the name given to the unintentional passing of urine. despite being embarrassing, its a really widespread condition that is thought to affect three million people in great britain
Whatever your age or gender, anybody can suffer from incontinence, although its more common in people that are older. The problem affects many more women than men, & it affects one in five women who are aged over 40 years old.
There's numerous types of incontinence, but every one is down to a problem with bladder.
Our urine is produced by the kidneys and it collects in the bladder. the bladder empties when it is full. when it empties, the muscular wall of the bladder has to contract simultaneously as the band of muscle at the outlet of the bladder relaxed. most cases of incontinence in adults is caused by a problem with one of these processes.
The symptoms of incontinence differ depending on the sufferer. some incontinence sufferers experience bladder leakage all of the time, while other people only suffer from leakage when pressure is placed on their bladder such as when they bend over or cough.
Incontinence can also refer to bedwetting, which is relatively common in children but it can also affect older people.
As we have already mentioned, there's a variety of types of incontinence. These include:
Stress incontinence, which is the most widespread type of incontinence and one that is common in ladies that have had kids. Stress incontinence is when the bladder leaks during sneezing, laughing and other stuff that put pressure on the bladder.
Urge incontinence, which is when you understand that you want to urinate although you can't hold it in long enough to make it to the washroom in time. for this reason, urine can leak as soon as you want to urinate.
Reflex incontinence is another range of the ailment and it usually occurs because of a spinal or neurological disease or trauma where there is little or no voluntary control or sensation of the bladder.
Some people may suffer from mixed type incontinence, which means, for example, sufferers of stress incontinence may develop other strains of the ailment.
If you have recognised some of the incontinence symptoms in this piece and think you may be suffering from the condition, do not worry. solely visit your doctor and talk to them about the variety of available treatments.
Some of the incontinence treatments the doctor may mention are pelvic floor exercises, bladder training or a course of medication.

These include disposable & washable pads and pants to keep you dry throughout the night and day, as well as a vast variety of bed protection products and toiletries that will feel great.
