    Congestive heart failure, or CHF, is one of the most common chronic health conditions in the United States. Nearly five million individuals live with this disease, and 500,000 more develop CHF each year. This illness may be slightly problematic, or it may become disabling and interfere with daily living.

    Individuals with CHF experience numerous deviations from their usual daily activities. They have to take medications to lessen fluid accumulation and to reduce the work performed by their heart muscle. Several of these result in depression and exhaustion. These drugs may also hinder physical relationships with a spouse or significant other.

    One other struggle that individuals with this disease encounter is the need for major dietary adjustments. Many have to stop eating beef, stay away from meals high in fat or sodium, or restrict the quantity of liquids they drink each day. They are encouraged to diet and work to stay as healthy as they can.

    Unfortunately, however, people with CHF no longer possess as much energy for physical activity as before. Rather, they have to watch as friends and relatives play volleyball, swim, or work out. This results in isolation and loneliness. Moreover, many people grieve their loss of physical health and energy.

    The majority of individuals who experience this and have not yet reached retirement age must also stop working. As well as causing financial stress and depression, this can worsen feelings of separation and seclusion. They find themselves alone. Rather than of chatting with the person at the next workspace, they watch TV while everyone else continues their live.

    Sometimes, sufferers take depression or anti-anxiety medications to cope with these issues. Others opt for counseling or group therapy to help them with meeting socialization needs and working through the mourning created through their newly changed lifestyles.

    A healthier method of managing this form of depression, however, has gained recent attention and gained almost instant approval with individuals who have trialed it. Additionally, unlike medications or counseling therapies, this technique is very economical. Clients are able to learn its use without encountering further financial hardship.

    This approach, which involves a blend of Ericksonian hypnosis and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), helps people to learn to relax and find harmony and tranquility in the midst of daily life. These techniques teach individuals to accept the new limitations in their lives while guiding them to continue living life to the fullest extent that they are able. Even depressed moods that result from medicines can be easily treated through the proper application of the methods utilized by hypnosis and NLP. Two of these approaches are anchoring and the Flash.

    Ericksonian Hypnotherapy is typically referred to as conversational hypnosis. It includes methods for providing post-hypnotic ideas embedded in a discussion or figure of speech. The positive aspect of this technique is that it removes the resistance to direct suggestions that is almost always encountered when using more traditional forms of hypnotherapy.

    Through anchoring, hypnotherapists and NLP Practitioners coach people to focus on happy thoughts and situations from the past in which they felt calm and in control. As the individual becomes engrossed in these memories, they can experience these emotions once more. The client then creates a concrete anchor for these feelings by touching two fingers in contact with one another. The subconscious mind creates a connection between the physical touch of the two fingers, and the positive feelings. Later, when the client encounters a stressful or upsetting moment, an anchor is triggered through touching together these same two fingers, re-creating emotions of peacefulness and tranquility.

    The Flash technique is also very helpful to individuals who are trying to conquer depression. The Flash technique programs the mind to automatically use the negative thoughts that are causing stress and sadness, as triggers for positive thoughts that stimulate relaxation and happiness. With practice, people usually become almost unable to have negative thoughts!

    Summary: Individuals with CHF typically experience sadness as a result of mourning over decline of their physical health and strength. Other factors that sometimes contribute to depression are medicines and money worries. Both Ericksonian Hypnotherapy and NLP offer excellent strategies for assisting people to cope with sadness without being forced to expend enormous amounts of time and money.
