- Shakespeare's thoughts on Obese and Plump Men

Quote "Let me have men about me that are fat; Sleek-headed men and such as sleep o'nights; Yond Cassius has a lean and hungry look; He thinks too much, such men are dangerous." UnquoteCaesar, an excerpt from "Julius Caesar"
William Shakespeare 1564-1616
You are doubtlessly aware of the incontrovertible outcome of that tale as relates to "sleek-headed men, with lean and hungry looks"?
I dont have any substantiated grounds that "sleek-headed men, with lean and hungry looks", are any more perilous than plump or obese men?
Nevertheless; in William Shakespeare's era, he must have gathered considerable knowledge to that fact, to have made the statement in his acclaimed works; "Julius Caesar".
What do you think about William's famous quote when applied to the 21st Millenium?
My conclusions are that Caesar would feel safer in one of the developed nations in the year 2008! Why? Maybe he could largely (pun not intentional) be encompassed by fat men, who could not be possibly be thought of as projecting a "lean and hungry look"! In fact a man or woman possessing a "lean and hungry look" in today's world is rapidly becoming an inconsequential "crowd". Plus, the way the first world realms are heading with excessive eating and sedentary behaviour.......not looking promising at all!
Last night I visited our local mall for a spot of late night browsing. The time was approximately 6 PM. I sat down in my special coffee bar to deliberate over a flat white coffee...with 99% no fat milk of course! The masses surged past. Following several minutes I noticed myself subconsciously noting the quantity of mildly overweight, to obese passersby, bumbling along with shopping carriers full of every kind of heavily processed looking junk food! Sadly, they hugely out-numbered the "lean and hungry looking people"!
Many trolley pushers had their children hanging from the handles. I especially observed that exceedingly, the average amount of passing kids also appeared extremely well (over?) fed...or is that exceedingly chubby! The parents were equally padded with excess fat in all directions.
Studying the coffee drinkers around my coffee table and again I was astonished at the huge quantity of obese men, women and young kids in such a small area! The fact that many were gorging into huge creamy coffees, to wash down very tasty, sugary, mouth watering, tempting cakes; invariably enjoined with a large dob of cream on the side!
I thought I might appear as if I might not have the money to also enjoy such tasty delectables. I was one of the few coffee sippers not gobbling down huge masses of carbohydrates, concentrated sugar; and well you know. You get the general idea..all those tasty delights that change healthy people into big, chubby and in the end "obese" people.
Please observe; the point I am attempting to make is that this was at 6 PM! All of these chubby parents and children were happily chucking down "fat laden" food at a time when, obviously, these families should have been at home serving their little "chubby" children some of the required "five vegies with meat"; or similar healthy fare. Not tucking into junk food in a coffee shop assisting their offspring into early heart attacks, strokes, sugar diabetes two, any variety of cancers and for many; into the 21st century of "childhood obesity"!
The conclusion I send to these opparently negligent parents is as follows. Think seriously about the future health and well being of your children. Prepare, cook and dish up to the little blighters a healthy and nutricious evening dinner. Adults are responsible for the health and well being of their children...no-one else. Substituting perhaps your child's most vital, and maybe their only home cooked meal for the day with "take away" or "eat in junk food" is hardly being a responsible parent. And certainly, without a doubt not at 6 PM on a Thursday night!
