- Stop Drinking Advice...The Dangers Of Alcohol
- By: ED PHILIPS
It is difficult to understand that if alcohol is so damming then why the hell is it legal and how on earth can it be accepted in certain social groups. On the other hand our society at large does try and enforce limitations on this and other unhealthy habits, but they just don't seem able to go the whole way. Alcohol can be dangerous in both small and large amounts and there is evidences that support these statements, but our health just does not always seem to be a major issue when taxes are involved. The fact is the alcohol has spread from coast to coast like a deadly virus and it is not only found in pubs and bars, but also in restaurants, at sporting events, night clubs, hotels and practically anywhere which involves groups of people under one roof. The sale of alcohol is not only an exclusive right for liquor stores and off licenses, meaning that almost anyone has access to this lethal substance and at almost any time during the day.
The truth is that people having alcohol at home is very common nowadays either for a daily drink or to offer to guests as though you may offend somebody for not being able to offer them a beer. The problem is that alcohol can now be bought in bulk for really economic prices at any supermarket so in respect it has just been added to our weekly shopping list.
Advertising is also a big culprit in marketing alcohol into what we can view as a cool thing to do and if you really open your eyes, alcohol has invaded our lives. You can find alcohol advertising in sporting events, on the TV, in the cinema, in magazines and on publicity boards. The market is basically saturated with alcohol and all in the cause of making us think that alcohol is socially acceptable.
The thing is that if our society is not able to show us that alcohol is bad for our health, at least they could stop the advertising of alcohol, so we don't see it as a cool pastime. At least if this form of advertising was cut out from sporting events it would be a start and why not promote the use of alcohol as unhealthy as a publicity campaign on the TV.
